The 2012 Can-Am Jazz Jam

 The event was held on the “Bridges” patio at the Holiday Inn in Sarnia between 12:30 and 5:00 pm on Sunday, August  26th, 2012.  Weather was excellent.

...We are grateful that a multi-talented musician (Sax, Trombone, Flute) will be returning with his All-Star Jazz Ensemble.  Joe has backed Jose Feliciano, Isaac Hayes, and Natalie Cole, to name a few.  He has been an ongoing member of the Can-Am group since it's inception and is a very well recognized name in jazz circles throughout Ontario.  His all-star group includes outstanding performers such as Rob Larose (Drums, Percussion,) and JRMA, and JUNO award winning performers such as Steve Clark (Bass,) and Don DiCarlo (Piano.)

We are very fortunate and excited to welcome back this outstanding young talented piano virtuoso to enhance our program.  Alex was was born in 1993 and grew up on a farm near Innerkip, Ontario. Having a keen interest in music, he taught himself the piano at age 8, and by the time he was 14 he released his self-titled debut jazz album featuring some of Toronto’s best,  i.e.: Terry Clarke, and later went on to play various jazz festivals with such greats as Peter Appleyard, and Don Vickery.  Most recently he has earned the 2013 Gordon & Anne Ragg  Music Scholarship to Humber College for outstanding performance.

To be included in the Dr. D group is Mike Cogley (piano,) is a very innovative professional  musician and a member of the Port  Huron “Piano Company.”  Professional basist Andrew Lloyd and Bob Hughes (Drums) will join the Dr. D group to accompany the well recognized professional band members such as Johnny Bond (Percussion,) Doug Matheson (Sax, Vocals) and George Delgrosso (Sax, Vocals.)  and Andy Tattersall (see below.)

... a highly sought-after outstanding and versatile “first-pick” jazz guitarist from Chatham, ON





Kenneth Chrone, a very versatile and well respected Jazz  icon from the Chatham area  will also showcase his extraordinary talent on the piano this year.  He has been a legend in the Ontario Jazz scene for many years. , and not unlike Dr. D, he has been very diligent in keeping Jazz performances alive and well.  Recently he as been very successful in organizing and directing a winter Jazz Program in Chatham, Ontario.
