Can-Am JAZZ JAM

The 11th Annual Can-Am Jazz Jam was hosted by the Holiday Inn, Sarnia under the direction of Dr. D (George Delgrosso.) We are pleased, once again to present our community with some very fine jazz musicians. During the rainy weather the jazz music was enjoyed in the Great Room Ballroom that was available at the Holiday Inn.

Alex Ernewein

Alex Ernewein (pronounced ern-a-wine) was born in 1993 and grew up on a farm near Innerkip, Ontario. Having a keen interest in music his whole life, he taught himself the piano at age 8. He especially immersed himself in jazz music, performing at various venues across Ontario, and by the time he was 14 he released his self-titled debut jazz album featuring the "cream-of-the-crop" of Toronto side-men, i.e.: Terry Clarke. Afterward he went on to play various jazz festivals with such greats as Peter Appleyard, Don Vickery, Neil Swainson, and Jake Langley. In recent years his musical pursuits have broadened to the likes of folk and post-rock music reflected in his released album which features him playing nearly every instrument as well as singing.

We are very fortunate to have Alex (along with his father) performing at our venue as a feature performer despite his very busy schedule. Alex also has a web page at http:// www.alexernewein.com.
